House as a delightful experience
- "Inside the effect of a solid structure floating above a lighter structure is to give the lower living areas a cool, under the house feel" (Specifier.com)
- Glass panels in between the large solid concrete walls provide a great contrast
- The use of concrete walls, timber floor and large glass windows gives the sense of solidness and roughness whilst still being a very homely place.
- The use of windows to provide natural lighting is very aesthetically pleasing, there are glass windows located everywhere and natural light is able to seap in through many small and large windows.
This house was built in 1978 in Dahshur, Egypt. The architect is Hassan Fathy, he has designed many houses and buildings in the middle east environment, utilizing Islamic Architectural principles in his designs.
